Agencies in Southern Maine
Did you know there are two types of foster care in Maine?
Specialized or Therapeutic Foster Care offers more comprehensive levels of supports for foster parents and children.
Woodfords provides treatment-level foster care to children age 0 to 21 years with developmental, emotional and/or medical disabilities who cannot reside with their biological family and who are in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
KidsPeace’s foster care and community programs are designed to help youth and families in Maine facing significant and/or complex challenges, in a family setting or outpatient arrangement. Services range from specialized treatment foster care and targeted case management, to outpatient mental health counseling, to intensive family support services for children with specific needs.
SMART Child and Family Services’ Therapeutic Foster Care Program is the foundation of the agency. Their goal is to provide a therapeutic, corrective family experience for children who have lived through abuse, neglect, and trauma.
Community Care’s Treatment Foster Care (TFC) program provides comprehensive services and supports to children and teens who are in the custody of the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
